I've been doing a lot of miscellaneous projects lately. Some for gifts, some to add for sale, some custom orders and some just for fun. This means that I have been both super focused and very distracted at the same time! I'm sure some of you can relate to that! One of the projects that have especially piqued my interest recently is crocheting dolls. I have always liked to do the dolls. So I do them from time to time. But a little bit ago, I was asked to do a custom doll. Someone showed me a picture of what they wanted
I don't know the original source and I could not find the pattern. So I did my best to try to create a pattern that is close. I do not actually know how to create patterns yet, so this was a challenge. I ended up using parts of different patterns that I had on hand to create something that resembled what was requested. Also, the reference picture had sunglasses on, which meant I had no idea what the eyes where supposed to look like. So I took some creative liberties with the eyes. This is what I ended up with.
She doesn't look exactly like the reference photo. But the person who ordered her was very pleased. That made me happy!
All the playing around with patterns that I did lead me to search for a doll pattern that I could use for projects. Eventually, I found this book. I really appreciated the concept of the book and all the variations it offered. I tried it out and I really like the results!
I think she came out so cute! I can't wait to play around with this pattern a little more and see what other adorable dolls I can create! Do any of you have a favorite doll pattern? If so, please share!
